< Next | Caldon Canal – Leek Branch |
The Leek Branch of the Caldon Canal now ends around 1.5km (1 mile) from the centre of Leek. It once went a little further over an aqueduct, but still never got much closer to the town.
A feeder comes in from Rudyard Reservoir which was built to feed the canal. It flows along the Leek Branch to the Main Line of the Caldon Canal, then along that to feed the summit level of the Trent & Mersey Canal.
