The single exit from the basin is at the northern end passing under the bridge with no towpath which was deliberately done so provide security for the basin.

Looking northwards from Drapers Fields Bridge 1 at the basin entrance the towpath starts on the right hand side and stays on that side for the whole length of the canal – the only canal to have its towpath on one side throughout.
